I rescue senior animals. My perfectly healthy 6 year old cat started peeing outside of the litter box. The vet exam showed urinary crystals and told us to stop with the small amount of kibble he was getting aside from his regular wet foot diet and wanted to start him on a kidney diet. I agreed with stopping feeding him kibble but as for the kidney diet I thought this to be pretty drastic given he’s only 6 years old and wanted to see if there were different options. The vet had none. So I spoke with Katie at Healthy Pet Products in McMurray, Pa and told her the whole story to which she suggested we change his wet food to a different brand that was low in phosphorus which is known to cause urinary crystals. Who knew ? So I followed her advice and switched him to the wet food brand with lower phosphorus. He has not peed outside his litter box since switching brands and now one month later ( just this week ) his vet exam showed NO URINARY CRYSTALS ! Thank you Katie ! This is not the first time we have gotten excellent education and information from staff at this particular store. Way back during the pandemic, our big old dog was struggling with hip weakness and Jenna who worked there at the time was full of information about diet and supplements to support our old dog’s hips as well as her whole body. She also suggested a diet change along with a supplement that she had used on her old dog that helped it. I followed her advice and saw the same results she did. Our old girl seemed to spring back to life within a few weeks, a whole new dog. On top of that Jenna, who happened to live a few a doors down from me, delivered my dog’s food to our house when I had Covid. I wasn’t able to leave the house and hadn’t realized I ran out of my dog’s food and she knew exactly what products I needed and left them on my front porch on her way home from work. Going back further, before Covid, I had a little dog who had poultry allergies and was developing other health problems because of it. Toni herself happened to be at the store that day and directed me to change her diet and made a recommendation that she supported at length about the benefits of this particular diet for this particular dog with her particular health issues. Within weeks my dog had so much more energy and she slept better too, wasn’t struggling with pooping, no longer had goopy eyes and her coat was so shiny and soft. She lost the little extra weight she had because she just ran all day. Forget walks, they were runs ! Not only are the staff at the McMurray branch very knowledgeable about their products , but also very knowledgeable about various animal bodies and how they function. It really is all about diet and lifestyle. I am so grateful for the staff at the McMurray store for all their help !!! What would I do without them. I’d have 3 less healthy and happy animals. I know that for sure.
